4th Conference Human Vibration
Effects on Health - Performance - Comfort
Würzburg
Festung Marienberg
03.05. - 04.05.10
Event number 01TA705010
Human beings are subjected to considerable mechanical vibrations in the workplace and in traffic. These vibrations can result in adverse effects on health and reductions in performance and comfort. The great breadth of the effects of vibrations on human beings, which affects nearly all branches of industry, requires an inter-disciplinary approach to the problem. New development methods for health and comfort assessments, such as numerical simulation and the use of dummies, open up new perspectives for the development and assessment of measures to reduce vibrations throughout the entire body and in hand-arm vibrations.
The aim of the conference is to provide an overall picture of the current technological progress made in the specified problem areas and to explain their importance with the aid of practical examples. For the first time in Germany, the Noise and Vibration Health and Safety at Work Ordinance, implementing the European Vibration Directive 2002/44/EC, specifies detailed requirements for employers on the assessment of risk and preventative measures from the point at which trigger levels or exposure thresholds are reached/exceeded. This includes the precept of minimising vibration as far as technically possible, the ascertainment of vibration stress in the workplace, instructions, a programme to minimise vibration and precautionary industrial medicine. The conference will present initial experience with the implementation of the Ordinance and explain practice instructions, e.g. the technical rule TRLV- Vibration.
