International VDI Conference - Energy and Materials from Waste 2013

May 14-15, 2013

The international VDI Conference “Energy and Materials from Waste” will look at the utilization of waste as a source of electricity, district heating and materials such as minerals and metals. Waste is a resource and viable solution that helps to reduce emissions and landfill. Waste-to-Energy (WtE) technology offers one of the most robust and effective alternative energy recovery options to save limited fossil fuel resources used by traditional power plants and thus reduce energy dependence.

The VDI conference in cooperation with CEWEP, ESWET, ISWA, GKS and Prewin will discuss major issues for the Waste-to-Energy and recycling markets in technical, political and business areas, drawing on leading experiences from all over Europe. The event aims to encourage an international exchange of experience on Waste-to-Energy technology and recycling and to be a showcase for the latest technologies in this rapidly growing market.

Topics of the conference are:

  • Developments in the European waste legislation
  • Economic background to energy recovery options
  • Developments in recycling and energy recovery in Europe
  • Market developments in key-countries
  • Recycling of residues from Waste-to-Energy
  • Efficiency in energy recovery in Waste-to-Energy operations
  • WtE-plants optimization and best practices
  • Flue gas treatment

Conference chairmen are Jan Manders (CEWEP) and Dr.-Ing. Ragnar Warnecke (GKS - Gemeinschaftskraftwerk Schweinfurt GmbH).

Expect speakers from the following renowned Waste-to-Energy and recycling companies, institutes and organizations:
European Environment Agency – ISWA – CEWEP – Statkraft Vame AS – CNIM- SITA Northern Europe Waste Services – Keppel Seghers – MVV Umwelt GmbH – Götaverken Miljö AB – E.ON Energy from Waste UK Ltd – Martin GmbH für Umwelt- und Energietechnik – Fisia Babcock Enviroment – Babcock & Wilcox Vølund – Inashco Technology – LAB SA – Politecnico di Milano – Technical University of Denmark ... and many more
