International VDI Workshop - Building the general Safety Concepts for AV's Defining the Principals of Functional Safety
The VDI Building General Safety Concepts for AVs – Defining the Principles of Functional Safety Workshop is an interactive event that covers issues such as defining safety norms and products through to system design and defining ODDs. The focus will be real world examples, specifically looking at J3016, ISO 26262 and SOTIF as well as the application of ISO 21448. Furthermore, SOTIF’s scope and clarity will be compared with ISO 26262.
Approaching safety from all angles
Functional safety is truly an interdisciplinary challenge. From environmental perception and safety critical sensing to decision-making and vehicle control, functional safety principles are vital. Without question, ADAS research and the development of new concepts, such as ODD expansion and definition or risk consideration will play a major part in the future. This interactive VDI workshop will consider the challenges and opportunities new developments will bring and participants will be welcome to actively contribute to discussions in the sessions.
With a particular focus on practical, real world examples, this workshop will look at J3016, ISO 26262 and SOTIF as well as the application of ISO 21448. Furthermore, SOTIF’s scope, which tackles hazardous behavior in a system free from E/E system faults, will be compared with ISO 26262 . If you work at the forefront of AV technology and are interested in functional safety and its various applications in the sector, then attending this workshop is a must. The workshop is the perfect adds to the agenda of the international VDI conference Automotive Sensor Systems, taking place at the same venue on February 11-12th. Take part in both, workshop and conference and make use of a discounted package price!
Content of the workshop
The VDI Building General Safety Concepts for AVs – Defining the Principles of Functional Safety Workshop is designed to focus on practical examples, with participant input and the discussion of individual challenges. Amongst others, it will consider the following themes:
- Overview of J3016
- Background and the aims of ISO 26262 and SOTIF
- SOTIF status and objective
- SOTIF problems and what it does not solve
- Operation Design Domain (ODD)
- Sensors and perception capability
- Decision making and control
- Vehicle control
- Actuation capability
In group breakout sessions, we will also discuss:
- How can the functional safety framework be applied to different use cases?
- How will this affect the approach to vehicle system safety?
- How can these learnings be realistically applied on a daily basis?
Main Part - ADS Functional Safety Concept
