Call for Papers: International Conference on Gears
The 7th International Conference on Gears 2017 will be held in Garching, Munich at the Gear Research Centre (FZG) of the Technical University of Munich from September 13th to 15th, 2017. Supported by national and international associations, the conference brings together over 600 leading experts from the international gear and transmission industry. Presenting a paper gives you the opportunity to take part in this leading international forum and learn about the latest developments and research results in the powertrain industry and academia.
Paper submission of your abstract – topic areas
We would like to invite and encourage you to contribute an abstract and show that there is still room for improvement in the field of gears and transmissions, how gears can contribute to increasing energy efficiency, reducing resource consumption and how new technologies will be incorporated in the powertrain.
Don´t miss out on being part of this unique meeting point for equipment manufacturers, producers and researchers of gear and transmission systems and present your new solutions, latest research results and technical ideas.
- Design, analysis and simulation of gears and transmissions
- Industrial application, such transmissions for energy systems or for mobility systems, etc.
- Manufacturing, e.g, productivity increases with new concepts for machine and manufacturing processes, machine running time or throughput time – balancing of productivity and flexibility
- Possibilities and potential of plastic gears
- Testing, e.g. new test methods and/or procedures for lifetime, efficiency and noise behavior
For a full list of conference topics, please download the Call for Papers below.
Be part of the most important international conference in the field of gears and transmission in 2017 to meet, share ideas and learn together.
Submit your abstract now. The deadline for abstract submission is November 4th, 2016Submit Contribution
Guidelines for preparing your abstract

- In which topic area(s) your presentation should be listed
- A statement specifying what is new in your presentation
- A bibliography of your previous publications about this subject
- How you would like to present your paper upon acceptance (full or poster presentation)
- Note whether a peer review of the complete manuscript is requested
- Abstracts should be submitted in PDF or Word format
- Official language is English
To submit your abstract, you will need to create or log in at your account at www.vdi-com.de. This allows you to submit and manage abstracts, papers, and posters associated with the International Conference on Gears 2017.

Important date for authors
We would like to remind all authors of the important dates below.
- Deadline for submission of Abstracts: November 4th, 2016
- Notification of acceptance: End of February 2017
- Deadline for submission of manuscripts: March 24th, 2017 (with peer review)
- Deadline for submission of manuscripts: June 9th, 2017 (without peer review)
On the basis of the abstract, the program committee will decide on acceptance and on the order of presentation in the conference program. All accepted authors will be required to submit a full paper to be published in the conference proceedings which have an official ISBN number. If accepted authors wish their full paper to be peer reviewed, this must be indicated in the abstract. If you successfully pass the peer review the manuscripts will be so marked in the conference proceedings. The full manuscript can subsequently be published in the magazine “Forschung im Ingenieurwesen”. This journal is currently listed in Scopus and Web of Science, with a recognized Impact Factor of 0.250 (Journal Citation Reports®, Thomas Reuters 2015).
Accompanying conferences focus on high-performance plastic gears and gear production
In addition to the conference programme of the International Conference on Gears 2017 the accompanying conferences again offer a deep insight into all aspects of
>> Gear Production 2017
>> High Performance Plastic Gears 2017
Experts in the field of gear manufacturing or plastic gears are invited to contribute a proposal for the call for papers of the International Conference on Gears 2017.
Entrance to the accompanying conferences is free for registered participants of the International Conference on Gears 2017.
Two social events offer excellent networking opportunities
The conference offers many opportunities to meet up with colleagues - old and new - during the breaks. A social evening in the main hall of the university will be held on the second conference day. In addition, we warmly invite you to an external evening event. Let yourself be surprised. The social events are included in the conference attendance fee.
