Extended call for papers deadline! International Conference on Gears 2021
Deadline extended by two weeks! You now have until December 3rd, present your work. Submit your paper today and join us. The 9th International Conference on Gears 2021 will be held in Garching, Munich at the Gear Research Centre (FZG) of the Technical University of Munich from September 15th to 17th, 2021. Supported by national and international associations, the conference brings together over 500 leading experts from the international gear and transmission industry. Presenting a paper gives you the opportunity to take part in this leading international forum and learn about the latest developments and research results in the powertrain industry and academia.
Discover innovative gear technology, network around the world and build partnerships!
Following on from the success of the past conference the “International Conference on Gears” will surely be a again a unique meeting point for equipment manufacturers, producers and researchers of gear and transmission systems and present your new solutions, latest research results and technical ideas. You will find answers to questions such as Where are the potentials for innovative tooth geometry and modifications?, How can you increase the load carrying-capacity? or What are the best techniques for continuous diagnosis and monitoring? And many more.
Paper submission of your abstract – topic areas
We would like to invite and encourage you to contribute an abstract and showimprovements in the field of gears and transmissions, how gears can contribute to increasing energy efficiency, reducing resource consumption and how new technologies will be incorporated in the powertrain.
Don´t miss out on being part of this unique meeting point for equipment manufacturers, producers and researchers of gear and transmission systems and present your new solutions, latest research results and technical ideas.

We are currently preparing the final program for you. You will soon be able to download it here.
On the basis of the abstract, the program committee will decide on acceptance and on the order of presentation in the conference program. All accepted authors will be required to submit a full paper to be published in the conference proceedings which have an official ISBN number. If accepted authors wish their full paper to be peer reviewed, this must be indicated in the abstract. The paper will be reviewed and – if accepted – published in the magazine “Forschung im Ingenieurwesen”. This journal is currently listed in Scopus and Web of Science, with a recognized impact factor of 0.766 (2019).
To submit your abstract, you will need to create or log in at your account at www.vdi-com.de. This allows you to submit and manage abstracts, papers, and posters associated with the International Conference on Gears 2021.
If you have any questions or need further information please contact Mrs. Koerber.
At present we are planning an onsite set-up, but we also keep an eye on the actual developments and will prepare alternative digital solutions if necessary.
Accompanying conferences focus on high-performance plastic gears and gear production
In addition to the International Conference on Gears 2021 the accompanying conferences again offer a deep insight into all aspects of
Experts in the field of gear manufacturing or plastic gears are invited to contribute a proposal for the call for papers of the International Conference on Gears 2021.
Entrance to the accompanying conferences is free for registered participants of the International Conference on Gears 2021.
Two social events offer excellent networking opportunities
The conference offers many opportunities to meet up with colleagues - old and new - during the breaks. A social evening in the main hall of the university will be held on the second conference day. In addition, we warmly invite you to an external evening event. Let yourself be surprised. The social events are included in the conference attendance fee.
