International VDI-Workshop IT Security for Connected/Autonomous Cars

IT Security for Connected and Autonomous Cars

Modern cars are increasingly connected to each other and the internet. The car becomes a platform for the delivery of many other services – such as downloading information from the internet for the driver, calling emergency services or making an appointment at the car service. However, this entails many IT security risks and challenges that need to be addressed. The workshop provides an overview on latest IT security developments in the car industry. The workshop chair explains IT security risks, methodologies and solutions and participants are invited to interactively exchange experiences with peers.

Protecting the IT of connected and autonomous cars

With the move towards connected and autonomous vehicles, the car industry has to handle new challenges and risks. Our international congress “ELIV” (ELectronics In Vehicles) discusses latest trends in the area of electrical and electronical car engineering as well as integration of mechanical and electronical systems. In addition to the congress, the international workshop “IT Security for Connected/ Autonomous Cars“ focuses on important developments in the area of vehicle IT security.

Besides tangible protection devices, IT security becomes increasingly important. Hackers have manipulated the IT of vehicles already. During the workshop you will learn more about cyber threats and technical trends influencing automotive security. Moreover, automotive security best practices regarding security concepts and applied cryptography will be discussed.
