The VDI Society for Materials Engineering makes a point of networking experts both from business and from scientific fields close to actual applications in order to allow discussion of current questions about components and products from the point of view of materials and the corresponding technologies and also to enable engineers in this field to access via the network the approaches to solutions which have been worked out.
Besides the professional activities for the business experts, the Plastics in Automotive Engineering conference has for years given the upcoming generation an opportunity and the encouragement to develop in this sector. This year the VDI Society for Materials Engineering and the VDI Wissensforum GmbH have invited more than 110 students from 11 universities to visit the conference.
This engagement is appreciated by the professors as well. Professor Ansgar Jaeger of the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt says: “The Plastics in Automotive Engineering conference in particular attracts a very high level of interest on the part of our students and we are very grateful to the VDI for this opportunity to participate. In addition to the papers, the focus of interest is above all on the exhibition and the possibility of viewing current and innovative applications, not to mention making contacts for internships and dissertations.” This is an initiative which is highly regarded by the universities in other VDI Wissensforum GmbH conferences as well.
